Vail Colorado

‘Like nothing on earth’ SERIOUSLY!!!

I recently just returned from my annual winter holiday in Vail Colorado. I spent 10 days staying in the main village at Lionshead which really was the perfect location. Walks were short to local restaurants and a 5min free bus ride to Vail Village.
The weather was amaze, 8 perfect bluebird days with the other 2 still complete visibility just a bit cloudy and snowing.

The hotel that we chose for this trip was Antlers at Vail. This hotel was apartment style which suits perfectly for a 10 night stay. We had a room with a fire place and also access to hot tub, swimming pool and sauna. They also have a partnership with Vail Athletic Club which I could go to complimentary yoga classes.

A little bit about the location and facilities:
Antlers is located not even a 5 minute walk from the Eagle Bahn Gondola. They store your snow gear and daily deliver it to the bottom of the gondola for you to be able to pick up and take straight up the mountain. At the end of your day they will pick up and return to the hotel to store for you for the night.

Lionshead is full of great restaurants and shopping. Some of my recommendations:
– Bart and Yeti’s
This is where the locals were hanging out. A cool laid back bar and restaurant with homely food options
– Blue Moose Pizza. (They are large so make sure you are hungry!)
– Apres at Garfinkels
If you venture into Vail main town try:
– Osaki
An amazing Japanese sushi restaurant. Not cheap but well worth it
– Alpenrose

I am a snowboarder so the runs that I chose in Vail may differ from skiers but here were my favs:
– Born Free
– Whiskey Jack
– Flap Jack
– Sour Dough
– Riders Run
– Anything in Blue Sky Basin

Burton in Lionshead is phenomenal. The staff there were knowledgable and were genuinely caring about the ride you would have. They do demo boots and boards so if your heading over and thinking of buying new gear this is the place to go!!

If you are looking for a massage or day spa treatment there are a couple of options depending on budget:
– Simply Massage – located at the Holiday Inn was the cheaper option but was still exactly what I needed after 8 days of solid riding
– The Arrabelle – Rock Resorts has a spa also that had plenty of different offerings

Other things to do:
– There is a move theatre in Vail Village
– Ice skating either at Lionshead or Vail Village
– Bowling
– Simply relax in your hottub and order in room dining 🙂

This place really was like heaven. I felt like I was away for months, but the SNOW, powder for days and untouched runs… For any fellow snowboard lover this holiday would be a dream come true
