The Wellness Festival

 

DESCRIBED AS THE COACHELLA OF THE HEALTH WORLD, I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE WELLNESS FESTIVAL UNTIL A FRIEND ASKED ME TO COME ALONG.

LUCKY FOR ME SHE MADE THE INTRODUCTION! WITH A LINE UP OF SPEAKERS THAT ANYONE WOULD SAY ARE #GIRLBOSSES I WAS TOTALLY INSPIRED TO LIVE LIFE WITH MORE PRESENCE, GREATER AWARENESS AND LOVE FOR ALL.

ON ARRIVAL WE VENTURED DOWN A LANE IN WATERLOO SYDNEY AND WAS SURROUNDED BY LIKE-MINDED PEEPS. HEALTHY FOOD, CHILLOUT SPACES, COCONUTS AND JUST ALL ROUND GOOD VIBES.

ONCE I GRABBED MY FLAT WHITE I HEADED UPSTAIRS TO AN INDUSTRIAL DECKED OUT, LIGHT FILLED SPACE TO TAKE MY SEAT AND LISTEN INTENTLY FOR THE DAY.

HERE ARE MY TAKE OUTS AS MY INTENTION IS TO ALWAYS ENRICH, GIVE PEOPLE KNOWLEDGE AND GREATER EXPERIENCES.

I DO HOPE YOU TAKE AT LEAST 1 AMAZING TIP THAT YOU CAN PUT INTO PRACTICE

1. HOW YOU CHOOSE TO REACT AND RESPOND WILL DEFINE YOU

MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHOICES ARE ALWAYS BASED ON LOVE. SAY YES BECAUSE YOU WANT TO NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE CHOOSING FEAR.

WE ALL CAN BE SO GUILTY OF THIS. I SHOULD GO TO THAT DINNER BECAUSE EVERYONE ELSE IS GOING; WE NEED TO WORK HARDER, LONGER BECAUSE THAT’S THE EXPECTATION.

WHEN YOU GO SOMEWHERE OR DO SOMETHING, IF YOU ARE PRESENT AND LOVING, YOU HAVE CHOSEN THIS OUT OF LOVE. IF YOU ARE NOT, YOU HAVE CHOSEN OUT OF FEAR, WHICH CAN CAUSE RESENTMENT, LACK OF INTEREST, BUT MOST OF ALL YOU ARE REALLY WASTING YOUR TIME AND ENERGY. IF YOU ARE THINKING MAYBE, I’M NOT SURE. LET ME PUT THIS TO YOU BLUNTLY IF ITS NOT A 100% YES THEN IT’S A NO!!!

MANAGE YOUR ENERGY AND PUT IT INTO THE THINGS YOU REALLY LOVE DOING. BECAUSE LETS BE REAL, TIME IS VALUABLE AND NONE OF US HAVE MUCH TO WASTE

2. MEDITATE DAILY

THE POWER OF MEDITATION IS PHENOMENAL AND SHOULD BE A NON NEGOTIABLE AT THE START AND END OF YOUR DAY

TAKING THE TIME TO CHECK IN WITH YOURSELF, BE STILL AND PRESENT IS A PERFECT WAY TO COMMENCE YOUR DAY. IT WILL GIVE YOU THE CLARITY TO UNDERSTAND YOU, MAKE THE RIGHT DECISIONS (NOTE POINT 1) BUT MORE SO KEEP YOU IN YOUR LIFE’S FLOW.

EVER HAD ONE OF THOSE DAYS THAT JUST STARTS OUT A MESS?? I THINK WE ALL HAVE. IMAGINE IF YOU GOT UP, HAD YOUR HOT WATER WITH LEMON AND THEN SAT YOUR SELF IN A BEAUTIFUL SPACE IN YOUR HOUSE AND SET YOUR INTENTIONS FOR THE DAY. BLISS.

ON THE FLIP SIDE IT’S ALSO SUPER IMPORTANT TO BE GRATEFUL FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. DON’T CONSTANTLY BE FOCUSING ON WHAT WE DON’T HAVE, OR WHAT WE LONG FOR. BE GRATEFUL IN THIS MOMENT FOR THIS MOMENT AND ALL THAT’S AROUND YOU.

LASTLY CLEARING YOUR MIND AND CHECKING BACK INTO YOU AT THE END OF THE DAY IS SO SOUL NOURISHING. LET THE THOUGHTS FLOW THROUGH AND RELEASE THEM. CHANNEL YOUR ENERGY AND PREPARE YOURSELF FOR AN AMAZING SLEEP

3. TRUST YOUR INTUITION

I LOVE THIS ONE AS SO MANY TIMES MY GUT TELLS ME SOMETHING AND I’M LIKE, WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT??? AND SO MANY TIMES I LOOK BACK AT MYSELF AND SAY I SHOULD OF TRUSTED MY GUT. WHEN YOU ARE CONNECTED WITH YOURSELF THE MOST VALUABLE ASSET YOU HAVE IS YOUR INTUITION. THE BURNING DESIRE INSIDE YOURSELF THAT TELLS YOU YES, I’M ON THE RIGHT PATH OR NO, DON’T TURN LEFT, DANGER.

ITS ALSO NOT JUST TUNING INTO YOUR GUT MENTALLY ITS ALSO PHYSICALLY. WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO LOOK AFTER YOUR GUT HEALTH? WHAT FOODS, WHAT ENERGY ARE YOU PUTTING INTO YOUR GUT? NOTHING FLOWS ON ITS OWN IN OUR BODIES, EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED. I CHALLENGE YOU TO REALLY LOOK AT THIS AS FOR A LOT OF US IT CAN BE THE LAST THING THAT WE FOCUS ON BUT WE REALLY NEED TO NURTURE IT TO ENSURE ITS CHANNELING THE RIGHT ENERGY BOTH PHYSICALLY AND MENTALLY. PRACTICE MINDFUL EATING.

DO YOU KNOW WHY YOU GET UP EVERYDAY? DO YOU REALLY KNOW? WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE? I HAVE READ QUITE A FEW BOOKS ON DIGGING INTO YOUR TRUE PURPOSE, WHAT YOUR PASSIONS ARE AND WHAT ARE YOUR HERE TO DO WHILST LIVING THIS LIFE. TAKE SOME TIME OUT, IT COULD BE IN YOUR MEDITATION ALSO TO ASK YOURSELF AND THE UNIVERSE, WHAT IS MY PURPOSE?

FROM THE BOOK – THE SOUL OF LEADERSHIP, DEEPAK CHORPRA FOCUSES ON FINDING YOUR TRUE PURPOSE – YOUR SOUL PROFILE. WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THIS IS THAT YOU FORMULATE YOUR PURPOSE IN ONE SENTENCE.

WHATS MY CONTRIBUTION IN LIFE, WHATS THE PURPOSE IN WHAT I DO? HOW DO I FEEL WHEN I HAVE AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE, WHO DO I LOOK UP TO, RESPECT AND ADMIRE?, WHAT ARE MY UNIQUE SKILLS AND TALENTS? WHAT ARE THE QUALITIES THAT I LOOK FOR IN MY CIRCLE, WHAT ARE THE BEST QUALITIES THAT I EXPRESS?

IT CAN BE AS SIMPLE AS MY PURPOSE IS ‘TO SERVE OTHERS’

5. YOU ARE THE SUM OF THE 5 PEOPLE YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH

SPEND YOUR TIME WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE. ONCE YOU DEFINE YOUR PURPOSE DO THE PEOPLE THAT YOU SURROUND YOURSELF WITH ALIGN WITH THE PURPOSE? DO THEY ADD VALUE TO YOUR JOURNEY, AND VICE VERSA DO YOU ADD VALUE TO THEIR’S?

MAKE SURE YOU MAKE THE RIGHT ASSOCIATES AND IN YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIFE NURTURE YOU’RE NETWORK. IT REALLY MADE ME THINK ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE REACHED OUT TO SOMEONE FOR GUIDANCE, SUPPORT OR REALLY TO KICK MY BUTT BACK INTO LINE WHEN I DOUBTED MYSELF. TO BE HONEST IT HAPPENS DAILY AND I AM SUPER GRATEFUL FOR THOSE IN MY LIFE THAT SUPPORT ME.

THIS CAN CHANGE TOO. BASED ON YOUR JOURNEY AND ALSO YOUR FRIENDS JOURNEYS, THERE MAYBE TIMES WHERE YOUR JOURNEY TOGETHER COMES TO AN END. THAT’S OK, BE GRATEFUL FOR THE VALUE THAT YOU BOTH ADDED TO EACH OTHERS LIFE’S DURING THAT TIME, ALWAYS ALWAYS WANT THE BEST FOR EVERYONE AND CONTINUE ON YOUR PATH WHICH WILL LEAD YOU TO NEW FRIENDS AND PEOPLE TO LEARN AND SURROUND YOURSELF WITH. TYING INTO POINT 1, DON’T TRY AND PLEASE EVERYONE, AS YOU NEVER WILL. BE YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF AND THOSE THAT CONNECT WITH YOU ARE THE ONES THAT ARE MEANT TO BE ON YOUR JOURNEY WITH YOU

6. PRACTICE DAILY

I ALWAYS REMEMBER WHEN I WAS YOUNGER I WAS SO EXCITED TO PRACTICE THAT SPORT THAT I LOVED 5 DAYS A WEEK. EVERYDAY I GOT UP AND I WANTED TO BE BETTER, DO BETTER AT IT. THE SAME PRINCIPLE APPLIES WITH LIFE, WHETHER IT IS WITH FAMILY, WORK, AND YOUR PASSIONS YOU HAVE TO PRACTICE DAILY!

DON’T START AN INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT FOR YOUR BUSINESS TO HELP IT GROW AND THEN LEAVE IT SITTING THERE FOR MONTHS. DON’T COMMIT TO YOGA AND THEN SHOW UP ONCE PER YEAR. IF YOU KNOW IT’S IN YOUR PURPOSE AND IT’S A PART OF YOUR JOURNEY THEN MAKE THE COMMITMENT TO PRACTICE DAILY. THEN YOU WILL BE UNSTOPPABLE!!
